Alberto Giacometti
Influenced by early 20th century artists such as the sculptors Bourdelle and Rodin as well as his contemporaries, Max Ernst, Picasso and Balthus, Alberto Giacometti returned to liberated Paris in 1945 from Geneva, where, over the next two decades he was to become one of the leading exponents of modernist sculpture.
From March to June this year, groups have the opportunity to see an exhibition of his sculptures from this period at Compton Verney in Warwickshire. Featuring loans by galleries including Tate Modern and Zurich’s Kunsthaus, the exhibition will examine his stylistic transition towards the stark existentialism which characterised his later work.
