The 59th Edinburgh Military Tattoo is set to take place at Edinburgh Castle in August.

The three-week event will feature traditional elements such as massed pipes and drums and the Lone Piper along with new acts.

Among the new elements that will feature in the 90-minute production are university marching bands from the United States, gurkha pipes and drums from Singapore, a 50-strong highland dance troupe from Canada and a display of piping, drumming and highland dancing from Queen Victoria School in Dunblane, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
