September will see the city of Bath celebrate one of its most famous former inhabitants with its annual Jane Austen Festival.

The Festival will be launched with a Grand Regency Promenade featuring costumed characters taking to the city’s streets. The opening day will also feature a Georgian-themed fair in the city centre and a 19th century dance workshop, where your group can learn a few steps before taking to the floor at a Country Dance near the Cathedral.

The following week will be packed with over 40 events and activities giving your group a chance to enjoy everything from historic walking tours and a Regency Food and Drink Festival to a Georgian-themed Festival Ball at the Bath Assembly Rooms and a specially commissioned performance of Austen’s Northanger Abbey to be staged at Kingswood School.

The Jane Austen Festival will be held at various venues in Bath from 19th to 28th September. Many events are free, but discounts are generallly available where there are charges . For more information telephone 01727 867201
