Kendal Torchlight Carnival
The 39th Annual Kendal Torchlight Carnival will take place this September in remembrance of the old group gatherings that occurred in the historic Cumbrian town.
The annual event officially began in 1970 and throughout the evening, groups will be able to enjoy street art performers, traditional country and folk dancers, and floats decorated in the theme for 2008, entitled ‘North, South, East and West (Kendal’s still best)’. This particular theme was chosen this year to correlate with the lake District’s bid for World Heritage status.
The Kendal Torchlight Carnival will take place on 13th September in Stricklandgate, Kendal. Admission is free. For more information telephone 01229 580640.
