Plant lovers browse at Southport Flower Show.

Merseyside’s Southport Flower Show will celebrate its 80th year in the town’s Vicoria Park between 20th and 23rd August.

Celebrity guests at the event will include Professor David Bellamy, Diarmuid Gavin and Professor Stefan Buczacki.

In honour of the show’s decade of inception, this year’s event will have a 1920s theme which entrants to the garden design competitions will have to work to.

Other events will include music at the bandstand, falconry and dog displays and the naming of a new variety of rose.

The Southport Flower Show 2009 will take place from 20th to 23rd August in Victoria Park, Southport, Merseyside. Groups of 15 and more receive a 10% discount per one-day ticket, groups of 50 and more 15% and groups of 75 and more 20%. For more information telephone 01704 547147.
