The Golden Age of Couture
A new exhibition is being staged at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, exploring post-war fashion in Paris and London in the decade between 1947 and 1957.
More than a hundred dresses will be on display, ranging from daywear to royal designs. The exhibition will include Christian Dior’s most distinctive ‘New Look’ haute couture designs produced after the Second World War, such as the ‘zemire’ jacket and skirt and more recent pieces taken from John Galliano’s 2005/2006 Autumn/Winter collection for the Christian Dior fashion house.
