Hastings’ Borough Council is planning to close the town’s sea-front coach park and replace it with an out of town facility and series of drop-off points.

The closure, which was not anticipated for a further two or three years, may be brought forward if plans to use the current coach parking site to house a new art gallery for the Jerwood Foundation go ahead. Proposals for the new gallery are still in the planning stage and the relocation of the coach park will be taken into account during a series of public consultations that will take place over the coming months.

Whether the plans for the new art gallery go ahead or not, the Council is still planning to overhaul its current coach parking arrangements. The most likely location for the new coach park is situated two miles away from the current site on Sea Road in nearby St Leonards-on-Sea.
