New UN coach legislation
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) passed a ruling last month that all new tourism coaches operating in Europe must be fitted with electronic stability control systems – devices that sense wheel slip and apply braking to one or more of the wheels to regain stability.
Their purpose is to keep control of the coach in situations caused by poor road surfaces, snow and ice or excessive speed during cornering. It will be phased in over a number of years.
