Digital art gallery for travellers
An interactive digital art gallery, called ‘Station Masters’, has been unveiled at London’s St Pancras International station.
Situated within Eurostar’s departure lounge – a Grade I-listed building – passengers are invited to select a painting at one of the the touch screen coffee tables, which will then be displayed on one of the lounge’s free-standing plasma screens to create an evolving art gallery. The service, which is free to use, features a database of more than 100 paintings belonging to the National Gallery, including works by Leonardo da Vinci and Rubens.
Paintings are divided into eight themes – love, identity, light, celebration, discovery, passion, peace and time – and are accompanied by descriptive text.
Passengers can also use ‘Station Masters’ to send an e-card of a favourite painting to friends or relatives before departure.
