With the 90th anniversaries of the end of World War I and the founding of the RAF both taking place this year, the Kent-based travel operator wing of the Royal British Legion, Poppy Travel, recently published its new range of tours for 2008.

Groups interested in learning more about the end of the Great War can choose from a range of tours including the Victory 1918 – The Last 100 Days Tour. This explores sites involved in action during the Germans’ last push to Paris in 1918 such as Amiens in Northern France and the former Hindenburg Line, the militarised front that once stretched for over 160 miles along the French and German borders.

As the War drew to a close, the status of the RAF as the third armed service was confirmed. On the RAF 90th Anniversary Tour, groups can visit sites in Ypres in Belgium including the former airfields and trenches where the fledgling RAF saw service during the Battle of Ypres, and pay their respects at the Menin Gate Memorial and nearby war graves.
