Medieval warfare in the Baltic

Having been fought over throughout its history by Russians, Prussians, Danes and Poles, the Estonian capital of Talinn is to open a new museum exploring its long military past, the Talinn Fortress Museum, in May this year.

The Museum will be housed in the 15th century Epping Tower, one of over 50 fortified towers erected to defend the city, and will feature a permanent exhibition of medieval armour and weaponry.

Offering discounts to visiting groups, the Museum is designed to be interactive and, as well as computerised information displays, will give groups the opportunity to try on replicas of several of its pieces of 15th century chain mail and armour.
