'Oasis of the Seas' sets new benchmark in ocean cruising
American cruise line, Royal Caribbean International, has announced the latest amenities, which will be available onboard its newest ship, ‘Oasis of the Seas’, when it enters the cruising market in late 2009.
The ship, which will be 16 decks high and contain 2,700 staterooms, will feature an AquaTheater where passengers will be able to swim in a kidney-shaped pool and take scuba diving lessons by day, then watch theatrical performances spanning acrobatics, synchronised swimming, water ballet and high-diving, or take in fountain shows synchronised to music and lights, by night.
Additionally, the ship will feature a ‘Boardwalk’ area containing eateries, retail outlets and carnival games, as well as the first carousel at sea, and another first will be the Rising Tide bar, a moving cocktail bar, which will ascend three decks to the ‘Central Park’ area (or ‘neighbourhood’) on the vessel.
Accommodation options will also be expanded on ‘Oasis of the Seas’ with the introduction of 28 two-level loft suites, decorated in ocean-inspired colours, which will allow guests views of the sea through floor-to-ceiling, double-height windows.
