Ocean voyaging on Marco Polo
For groups thinking about ocean cruising in 2008, London-based tour operator South Quay Travel and Leisure recently released a range of group discounts for the coming year on voyages aboard the Transocean Tours cruise ship, the Marco Polo.
Throughout 2008, the Marco Polo, which is based at London’s Tilbury Docks, will be featuring a cruise programme that includes a Whitsun Fjords Cruise. This week-long sailing takes in the Norwegian fjords and stops at ports in Norway such as the medieval town of Bergen.
Later in the year, the ship’s programme includes a two-week cruise to ports in Iceland, where groups will be able to tour the capital city, Reykyavik, and bathe in the nearby thermal spas.
Upon its return from Iceland, the ship will be departing for a fortnight’s voyage around the Baltic. This will include stop-overs at ports including St Petersburg, the former Tsarist capital of Russia which was built in 18th century European baroque style by Peter the Great. There will also be the opportunity to go ashore to explore the port cities of Talinn, the capital of Estonia, and the Swedish capital, Stockholm.
Full details of the voyages are available in the company’s new 2008 brochure.
