Rollercoaster keeps passengers cool

Ohio theme park Cedar Point is to introduce a new ride in 2010.

Already famous for its rollercoasters, the park is spending over £6 million on ‘Shoot The Rapids’, a three-minute ride which will see visitors to the park travelling across water and through woodland in 10-passenger boats.

The rollercoaster will also include two ‘hills’. The first of these will see passengers plunging 85 feet at a 45 degree angle, whilst the other will include a dramatic finale during which the boats ‘shoot’ through a rock-strewn river.

The most expensive ride yet built at the park, ‘Shoot The Rapids’ is due to be completed in time for Cedar Point’s summer opening in May 2010.

The park offers discounted rates of entry for groups of 15 or more.
