Busy stands at the ‘academic venue show’

The newly-named ‘academic venue show’, formerly the Venuemasters Exhibition, took place on Thursday 24th May at London’s Business Design Centre and was hailed as a resounding success by organisers.

Arranged by Venuemasters, the consortium representing over 80 academic venues in the UK, 430 bona fide event organisers attended the event, with around 12% percent of these classing themselves as group travel organisers. The average attendance for the last three years has been around 400, so numbers were even more encouraging this year.

GTOs had the choice of perusing the stands of 50 member academic venues to pick up relevant information on bringing a group to stay. For the first time this year, a ‘best stand’ award was given out, recognising the efforts made by exhibitors, and the University of Portsmouth emerged as eventual winners.

Feedback from the show was positive from both exhibitors and visitors alike, with new features such as the industry seminars and keynote presentation from Tessa Sanderson receiving particular praise.
