Drayton Manor Theme Park, in Staffordshire, has announced that a 4D cinema will open at the site in March next year when the park re-opens for the new season.

The 152-seat theatre will feature 3D imagery on its cinema screen and the individual seats will move, slide and rumble in time with the on-screen action. Water spray, air blasts, aroma, low smoke and bubbles will also be released from the seats at key moments, which will all contribute to the 4D effect.

The first film to be shown will be a pirate adventure called ‘The Curse of Skull Rock’, which won an award at the Stuttgart Film Festival this year.

The 4D cinema will be housed in an existing building at the site, which will be re-fitted with a 1930s, art deco facade.

Groups of 12 or more qualify for discounted admission.
