Accessibility for all in London
Visit London, the body responsible for promoting the city to tourists, has launched a new online guide to accessible hotel rooms in the capital. The guide is based on the results of an independent audit, which investigated more than 800 accessible hotel rooms across 114 different hotels, both budget and luxury.
The guide is available through www.visitlondon.com/accessible, where you will be re-directed to a separate site provided by the hotel auditors, Direct Enquiries. From here, users will be able to search hotels by area, postcode, hotel name or define your search by specific facilities and services; for instance, hotels featuring hearing induction loops, facilities for visually-impaired guests and adjoining rooms for carers.
One of the website’s most useful features is a set of photographs showing individual routes through the hotel: for example, the best way to get from reception to the restaurant. Alongside these photographs, users will find details of surfaces, distances, light levels, signage and door widths.
