Coastal regeneration scheme
Blackpool, Torbay and Dover local authorities have been given £4 million each by the Department for Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS), as part of the Sea Change Scheme, a funding programme that aims to increase tourism in coastal areas.
The money will go towards cultural and heritage projects such as improving high streets, promenades and harbours or enhancing galleries, concert halls and theatres.
The three-year funding programme will also provide 12 other seaside towns with grants ranging from £200,000 to £1 million; however, these are yet to be confirmed.
