Stanley Mills, a £4.6 million visitor attraction on the banks of the River Tay, in Scotland, has now opened to the public.

The newly-restored mills, originally powered by seven water wheels, are situated around three sides of a courtyard and the oldest mill, called Bell Mill, was built in 1786. The site is believed to be one of the UK’s most complete examples of an early cotton mill complex.

The new attraction gives an insight into the history of the mills, their impact on the local area and the people who worked in them through a combination of interactive displays, exhibits and video footage.

A free place is offered for every eleventh person and free guided tours can be pre-booked.
