Expanded tours at Fairfax
Fairfax House, located in Castlegate, York, has announced extended private guided tour options for its 2007 season, from February to December.
The Decorative Arts Tours, a collection of tours currently available at the House, have six new additions; the John Carr in York tour, Silver Study tour, Chippendale & his Contemporaries tour, Marquetry & Parquetry Furniture tour, English Clocks & Watches tour and Passion for Paintings tour.
Each one of the tours offers groups an opportunity to find out more about the treasures housed in the 18th century Georgian House.
In fact, the Passion for Paintings tour is led by a curator detailing the House’s collection of 16th century devotional paintings, 17th century Dutch still lifes and maritime paintings and portraiture from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Additionally, a Candlelight Tour is also new for the House’s 2007 season providing visitors with a glimpse as to what it was like to live and study by candlelight.
