Exploring the south's heritage
Set in rural West Sussex, the South Downs Heritage Centre is due to open in April this year. Entrance will be free, but groups will be encouraged to make a donation.
The new Centre will house an exhibition looking at species of plants once common in the area that are now extinct or endangered. There will also be a Heritage Garden, where ancient local varieties of fruit and agricultural plants will be cultivated.
Additionally, groups will be able to learn more about traditional rural crafts at the Centre’s blacksmith’s and wheelwright’s shops. There will also be displays of local crafts by carpenters and basket weavers
