Ice Factor, an indoor activity centre in the Scottish village of Kinlochleven, has announced plans for two new developments in Aviemore, Scotland, and Burlington in the US state of Vermont.

Both developments will feature indoor rock and ice-climbing facilities, 300-foot indoor ski slopes and Olympic-sized curling and ice-rinks. Courses and training will be provided if required.

Outdoor activities will also be offered which will include winter and summer hillwalking, mountaineering and climbing.

The new sites will also have a bar, sauna, steam room, shop and restaurant, which will cater for groups.

Group packages will be offered that will include indoor and outdoor activities, as well as accomodation at its partner hotels – MacDonald Hotels in Scotland and the Sheraton Hotel in the USA.

The Aviemore development, which is currently in the planning stages, will cost £3.2 million to build. It is hoped that the site will be up and running within a year, so long as planning permission is granted this summer. Construction has already begun on the £10.5 million US site, which is due to open in December 2009.
