New 'monsters' at Lakes Aquarium
Two ‘monsters’ of the freshwater deep are now on show at the Lakes Aquarium, in Cumbria, having been moved from their previous home at Brighton SEA LIFE centre.
The two Wels Catfish are called Hannibal and Orson; Hannibal weighs around 150 pounds and is about six feet long whilst Orson is around 100 pounds in weight and measures approximately five feet in length.
The huge creatures have a broad, flat head and wide mouth and a long eel-like body. They have sharp pectoral fins and hundreds of rows of tiny teeth to catch their prey.
Group rates for 10 or more people are offered on entry to the Lakes Aquarium.
