Norfolk's new Amazona zoo
Home to over 80 species of exotic and endangered creatures, the new Amazona Zoo opened in June on the Norfolk coast just outside the seaside town of Cromer.
Developed by Ken Sims, the owner of Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth, the new Zoo has been established to contribute to international efforts to conserve threatened species and will also be acting as a sanctuary for animals rescued from illegal traffickers at British ports and airports.
Amongst the creatures your group can see there are a range of big cats such as pumas, jaguars and ocelots, as well as South American capybaras (the largest rodents in the world), tapirs – a close relative of the rhinoceros – spider and squirrel monkeys and rheas, which are flightless South American birds that grow to about five feet in height.
Discounts on admission are available for pre-booked groups.
