Royal Institution of Great Britain re-opens doors
The Royal Institution of Great Britain (RI) will re-open to the public on 1st September after a two and a half year makeover by architect Sir Terry Farrell.
The Royal Institution, a Grade I listed building that stands in Albemarle Street in London, has been the birthplace of some of the world’s most important scientific inventions and a new exhibition presents its history including informing visitors about those who have worked in its laboratories.
A free interactive eGuide is available (on a handheld computer) that takes you through the different aspects of the displays, including the invention of the thermos flask, the 14 Nobel Prize winners who worked at the RI and Michael Faraday’s original laboratory.
The exhibition replaces the former Faraday Museum here, s free to enter and open on weekdays.
