Famous fossil debuts in Houston
Groups visiting Houston Museum of Natural Science can enjoy a new exhibition called ‘Lucy’s Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia’.
The exhibition, which opened in August in Texas, will run until April 2008. It explores the five-million year history of Ethiopia through timelines, photographs and film.
The highlight of the exhibition is the 3.2 million-year old fossilised remains of ‘Lucy’, said to be the oldest and most complete early human ancestor ever found on African soil.
More than 150 artefacts can also be found at the exhibition including early stone tools, the first indigenous coins, paintings and musical instruments.
Groups of 20 or more receive discounted entry. Guided tours lasting one hour can be arranged free of charge.
