Final stages for island complex

Belle Island Village, a new leisure and retail complex in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is set to open in the autumn.

The 50 million pound development will be themed as a 1930s river town and will be set on an 18-acre island. As well as featuring three major restaurants, live entertainment stages, an 130-bedroom hotel and more than 90 shops, the development will also include the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum, the Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience and Knoxville Zoo’s Otter Cove containing otter enclosures.

The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum will showcase memorabilia from Reynolds’ films as well as 3,500 costumes, such as Marilyn Monroe’s white dress as seen in ‘The Seven Year Itch’.

The Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience, meanwhile, will be a NASCAR-themed attraction and will feature an interactive theatre, where visitors can negotiate their way around a racing track using interactive buttons on their seats.
