The Tussauds Group, the Surrey-based visitor attractions group, has announced plans to open two new Madame Tussauds visitor attractions in the USA. The first will be based in Washington DC and will feature 27,000 square feet of space dedicated to portraying American political figures and historical events that have taken place in the capital city.

On visiting, groups will be able to stand in an exact replica of ‘The Oval’ – the President’s office – and hear Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech from his replica waxwork’s lips.

The second Madame Tussauds will be based on Hollywood Boulevard and will be the larger of the two attractions at 45,000 square feet. It will focus on Hollywood’s greatest stars – both past and present – with waxworks designed to resemble the likes of Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Halle Berry and Brad Pitt.

Here, groups will be able to attend a recreated Oscars ‘after-party’ and an imitation of Hugh Heffner’s VIP Room at the Playboy Mansion in California.

Both attractions are scheduled to open in late 2007. Pre-booked groups will receive discounted admission.
