New York visits

As of 1st January this year, tickets to both the Statue of Liberty in New York and the nearby Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island, are being sold exclusively by the ferry-operator, Statue Cruises.

The Statue of Liberty stands on the 12-acre Liberty Island and was a gift to the American people from the French Third Republic in 1886. Visiting groups can climb the 10-storey high platform on which it stands to a viewing level overlooking the harbour.

Meanwhile, on the nearby Ellis Island, you can learn more about the history of immigration into America at the Immigration Museum. Housed in a former government building, which from 1892 to 1954 processed over 12 million new arrivals to the US, the Museum displays archive photographs and exhibitions on the lives of the new arrivals.

The company is the only ferry-operator permitted to stop at either of the attractions and tickets include both ferry journeys and admission. Pre-booked groups receive discounts on tickets, which can be downloaded online at www.statuecruises.com, allowing you to bypass queues at the mainland ferry terminal.
