The Maritime Greenwich World Heritage site, in London, will be exhibiting at Alexandra Palace where staff will be updating GTOs on new developments.

The big news for next year will be the opening of the Discover Greenwich centre in late 2009. The Centre, which will replace the existing visitor centre in the Pepys Building at the Old Royal Naval College, will tell the story of the College, from its time as a royal palace through to its spell as a Royal Hospital.

It will house an exhibition featuring historic artefacts, architects’ models from the design of the hospital and a reconstruction of the eastern section of Henry VIII’s royal chapel.

GTOs will also be able to learn more about the reconstruction of the former brewery, which once served the Royal Hospital.

Planned to open by December 2009, the building will house displays illustrating the history of brewing in London and Greenwich.
