Muncaster's anniversary plans

GTOs visiting the stand of Cumbria-based Muncaster Castle at next year’s Great Days Out Fair will be able to find out about the attraction’s 800th anniversary celebrations planned for 2008.

Although details are still to be confirmed, the Castle is hoping to stage a new year-long exhibition tracing the Castle’s owners, the Pennington family, and their 800-year history at the property.

In addition to leaflets, the stand will also feature details about the events staged annually at the Castle, which include the Festival of Fools week in May, an event climaxing in an International Jester Tournament.

Discounts are available for 12 or more people and, exclusive for groups, is a combined ticket called ‘Steam on the Wild Side’, which incorporates a visit to the Castle with the nearby Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.
