The Royal Air Force Museum will be at next year’s Great Days Out Fair to inform visitors about new exhibitions at its two sites in Cosford and London.

The stand will be manned by representatives from the Cosford site, in Shropshire, who will be promoting the Museum’s newest exhibition called ‘The National Cold War Exhibition’. Covering more than 8,000 square metres, the permanent exhibition features information on key aspects of the Cold War, including the Berlin Airlift and the Cuban Missile Crisis. It also contains a display of 17 aircraft, including Britain’s three V-Bombers: Vulcan, Victor and Valiant, along with missiles and model submarines. The Cosford site will also be promoting a number of celebratory events, which are still to be finalised, including activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift.

Meanwhile, its sister site in London, has opened a Chinook exhibition, set around the fuselage of an actual Chinook helicopter. The walk-in exhibition features a full cockpit with controls and audio-visual displays.

Entry to both Museums is free; however, guided tours and catering packages can be arranged for groups.
