Getting up steam

The Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line), the steam railway that runs between Alton and Alresford in Hampshire, will be exhibiting at the Arundel Castle Fair next year.

Representatives at the stand will be focusing on the railway’s themed journeys, such as the Real Ale Train, which runs from March to December each year and features a restored bar carriage, the Luxury Dining Trains, which run on various dates during the year for either lunch or dinner and the Sunday Lunch Dining Train, which operates throughout the year.

The Mid-Hants Railway celebrated 30 years of operating this year, since it began relaying tracks on a line that had been dismantled in the 1960s. The company’s carriages date from the 1940s and 50s and include dining cars that once featured on the boat trains that ran from London to Southampton to meet the transatlantic liners.

Details of group discounts will also be on offer at the Fair.
