London 2007
London is one of the world’s most famous cities and makes up a huge part of the country’s history. As well as this, being chosen as hosts of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games has also given the city a massive boost. Full of established national venues and less well known, but equally insightful, attractions, along with a mix of different shopping experiences, group organisers planning a visit to the English capital will find themselves with an abundance of choice.
There are also plenty of restaurants to pick from, ranging from familiar names such as Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock Cafe, which won the ‘Best Group Catering Facilities’ award at the 2006 Group Travel Awards, to less prominent places such as Roast in Borough Market, the King Sitric restaurant and The Crown pub in Cricklewood and the Medieval Banquet near London Bridge.
Theatre is also one of London’s biggest pulls and the capital is full of them. For instance, the Ambassador Theatre Group has eleven West End venues as well as The Old Vic, New Wimbledon Theatre and Richmond Theatre, with discounts and bespoke packages available for groups. Shows booking into 2007 include Guys and Dolls and Porgy and Bess. Hotel stays including theatre visits are also an option and Superbreak Mini Holidays, the short break operator, offers this service to groups of 16 adults or more, with shows for 2007 including Dirty Dancing, Spamalot and The Sound of Music. For more events in London, there is a key events panel in each section.
This guide aims to give GTOs an overview of a selection of the vast number of things to see and do in London, to make planning your group’s visit that much easier.
