US film star in Rain Man stage adaptation
Plans have been announced for a new stage adaptation of the hit 1988 film Rain Man to run in the West End this autumn. It starred Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, and won no less than eight Oscars.
When his estranged father dies suddenly, car dealer Charlie Babbit discovers that he has a brother, Raymond, who is autistic and has been living in an institution for many years. The bulk of the Babbit estate has been left in trust for Raymond’s care. A legal battle threatens, but meanwhile Charlie takes Raymond on a journey across the USA which proves to be a voyage of discovery for both…
On stage, the part of Charlie will be played by Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett, star of hits such as Black Hawk Down and Pearl Harbor, making his stage debut.
The part of Raymond will be played by Adam Godley, best known for his appearance as Kenneth Williams in the TV film Cor Blimey! and the hit stage play about the Carry On films Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick.
