Autumn dates for Evita tour
The hit musical Evita, the 1978 collaboration between Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, is continuing its UK tour this autumn.
The show tells the story of Eva Peron of Argentina – born a poor girl in rural Argentina, who got to Buenos Aires aged 15 in 1936, and then forged a successful career as an actress and radio star. She married Juan Peron, the populist politician who became President of Argentina in 1946. A charismatic speaker herself, she became a champion of the poor, but died young in 1952 and became a myth in her own time.
The current cast includes Louise Dearman as Evita and Seamus Cullen as Che Guevara.
The show’s score features such hits as Oh What A Circus, Another Suitcase Another Hall and Don’t Cry for Me Argentina – the latter being a number one hit for Julie Covington in 1977, before the show even opened.
The show was revived to great acclaim in the West End two years ago, and the current tour kicked off in May.
Tour dates for Evita include:
Leeds Grand Theatre (18th-30th August) Glasgow Theatre Royal (1st-13th September) Milton Keynes Theatre (29th September-11th October) Sheffield Crucible Theatre (13th-25th October) Stoke Regent Theatre (27th October-8th November) Cardiff New Theatre (10th-22nd November) Leicester De Montfort Hall (23rd December-10th January) Hull New Theatre (19th-31st January)
