A Dickensian adventure

Thirty-nine members of ShepARA (Sheppey Active Retirement Association) in Kent took a day trip to Dickens World in Chatham last month. GTO Derek  Marsh says, “Chalkwell Coaches of Sittingbourne provided the transport. The staff are helpful and the coaches are maintained to the highest standards.”

The group were greeted with tea and biscuits at the venue’s Britannia Theatre. Derek explains, “They set up tables and chairs for us in the foyer where we stayed for a good half hour.”

During the six hours spent at Dickens World, the members were thoroughly entertained. He enthuses, “The group loved the Great Expectations Boat Ride, which is a log flume ride where you get soaked with water. They were like little kids!”

Derek continues, “Many of our members have trouble walking, however the facilities were wonderful. There was a lift to access all floors and the seating and toilet arrangements were also excellent.” He concludes, “We’d certainly go back as there’s tons to do there.”
