A moving break in Poland
A five-day break to Krakow in Poland was a real success for 34 members of the London-based Harrow U3A recently according to GTO George Vulkan. He explains, “I asked the staff at the Hereford-based tour operator Greencastle Travel to put an itinerary together for us. I’ve used Greencastle lots in the past and I knew the company would create something exceptional.”
The group made their own way to Gatwick Airport, where Greencastle had arranged a direct flight to Krakow. “We were met by a coach when we landed,” continues George. “And then taken straight to the excellent Polonia Hotel in the city centre, where a nice hot meal awaited!”
On the following day, the tour operator had arranged a guided tour of the city for the group, which George says was very much appreciated. “It’s nice to enjoy a guided tour when you first arrive in a new destination as it helps you to get your bearings,” he comments. “We were then left to explore the beautiful city at our leisure for the remainder of the break. Greencastle had pre-arranged excursions for those who wanted to go and I know that members found a half-day trip to Auschwitz, the former concentration camp, very moving indeed. I particularly enjoyed the half-day excursion to the Wielicska Salt Mine.”
All in all, the break was much enjoyed by everyone. “I can recommend the break to other groups,” says George. “And I will certainly be using Greencastle Travel in the future.”
