A parliamentary outing
Dick Lancaster, Chairman and GTO for the Bexhill & District Gardens & Allotments Society, in East Sussex, took a group of 52 members on a day trip to London last year, the highlight being a visit to the Houses of Parliament.
“I arranged the trip through my local MP Gregory Barker,” explains Dick. “We were divided into three smaller groups, each with their own highly informative guide, who picked out the most interesting points of the Palace of Westminster building. Our MP met us at various points enroute and we were also able to have a photocall with him. All in all, it took about three hours and I would definitely recommend it to other groups. We might even return again ourselves.”
After the tours, the group was able to enjoy a good lunch at the cafeteria on site.
A trip to the ‘Tuthankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs’ exhibition at The O2 was also included on the outing, with tickets arranged through Ticketmaster.
For coach transport, the group used Ramblers Coaches of St Leonards-on-Sea. “I have booked with the company for 30 odd years now and use them 99% of the time,” says Dick. “They are reliable and local.” He continues, “A splendid day out in perfect weather was enjoyed by all!”
