A summer day in Cambridge

Lynette Carter, group travel organiser for the Unison Retired Members Club in Stafford, accompanied a group of 40 to Cambridge on one swelteringly hot day last summer.

“We were picked up from a pick up point in central Stafford by Happy Days Coaches, a local coach operator,” she explains. “I always use Happy Days as the staff treat us very well and understand our needs perfectly.”

On arrival in Cambridge, the members separated into smaller groups to set out to explore. “It was a blisteringly hot day,” Lynette recalls. “I hadn’t pre-arranged anything in particular for our arrival as I knew that the heat would be far too exhausting for us to want to do much!”

She continues, “The city of Cambridge is very historic and beautiful, so most people were content to just wander around and sightsee by themselves. I, on the other hand, attracted quite a large number of my members by sitting around on the banks of the river and watching the punting. We had a very relaxing time in the shade.”
