America's Music Cities
For the third year running, Chairman of the Bristol Postal Retired Branch, Brian Matthews, enjoyed a visit to America with 19 people on Uxbridge-based Collette Worldwide Holidays America’s Music Cities package. Says Brian, “The contents of this itinerary never fails to please. It included stays in Branson in Missouri, where four live shows are included as well as free time to enjoy further shows or just for shopping or sightseeing. A stay in Memphis, Tennessee was also part of the holiday, visiting Beale Street, the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and Graceland, the palatial home of Elvis Presley, which is a must in itself.”
On top of this, the group spent time in Nashville, where a stop at the RCA Studio B was included.”If you are lucky, you get the opportunity to record your group on CD – I have recordings from each time we have visited,” explains Brian. Visits to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Ryman Auditorium as well as dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon and a live show at country music’s Grand Ole Opry were also enjoyed. One of the highlights of the visit was the three-night stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. “It is really awesome. It has its own river running through the inside, where you can enjoy a boat ride, and was festively decorated when we visited! I always add on an extra night here to enjoy it fully,” enthuses Brian. “You come away from this holiday with a glow of satisfaction and if you want to give your group members a trip they will not forget, then this is the one.”
