Antiquities to ABBA
Essex-based Bernard Lazarus, Chairman of one of the Masonic Association’s social societies, the ‘Con Amore Club’, recently arranged for a group of 32 members to enjoy four days at Warner Leisure Hotels’ Littlecote House Hotel in Berkshire. “We are a charitable organisation.” Bernard says. “So any money we make goes straight to the Masons’ charitable foundation. We have several get-togethers every year, each with a black tie event on one evening.”
He continues, “We met at the hotel on the Friday and stayed until Monday.” “It was one of the hotel’s themed ABBA weekends and was perfect, with evening entertainment by an ABBA tribute band, Mama Mia. Everyone in our group, who were aged between 40 and 90, enjoyed themselves. The food and service were both excellent.”
However, it was the surroundings at Littlecote House that really made the weekend for Bernard’s group. “The history was amazing,” he says. “The antiquities and armour in the house and the beautiful gardens, which include a Roman mosaic pavement, give the venue a great atmosphere. When it came time for us to leave, everyone praised the place. I can’t recommend it highly enough.”
