Arty time in Yorkshire
The Capel Art Group, based in Kent, recently enjoyed their annual art-themed holiday, this year visiting Yorkshire for five days. “I booked the break through Kent-based Buzzlines for the first time this year, which has very comfortable coaches and we had a very competent and helpful driver,” says GTO for the group, Valerie Ovais.
The group of 42 actually stayed in Middlesbrough at the Thistle Hotel and Valerie comments that “the staff were pleasant, the rooms comfy and the food was excellent.”
As well as visiting York, whilst in the area, the group explored the Yorkshire Dales and the Moors, Heartbeat Country and Durham Cathedral. Visits to Richmond, Thirsk and the Aysgarth Falls gave plenty of opportunity for sketching and the group also fitted in a visit to Wensleydale Creamery in Mawes to taste the famous cheeses. “This was lovely and definitely worth a visit if you are into cheese!” says Valerie. She continues, “Our final visit was to a very wet Whitby, where most members took a tourist bus up to the Abbey or partook of the famous fish and chips. Despite the inclement weather, we all enjoyed our holiday very much!”
