Birmingham beckons
After four short breaks in the north east of England, the Morecambe & District Holiday Fellowship Wednesday Social Group decided on a change of scene for their annual holiday this year and decided on Birmingham.
Before arriving in the city for their four-day break, the group of 30 stopped at the RAF Museum in Cosford, Shropshire. Organiser Audrey Elliott recalls, “Both the men and women in the group found this museum of great interest.” Once settled in Birmingham, the group enjoyed further visits to attractions such as the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley. Comments Audrey, “It was every bit as interesting as Beamish – The North of England Open Air Museum and full of nostalgia for us.”
The services of a Blue Badge guide were used on another day of the trip to take members around Birmingham. Audrey states, “We even had time to spare to go to the shop at Cadbury World and stock up on chocolate!”
Other excursions included a visit to Lichfield Cathedral on the way home, where coffee and biscuits had been pre-arranged, and to Shugborough, near Stafford. “There was so much of interest here and after a hectic break, we arrived home ready for a nice lie-in the next morning!” says Audrey
