Boating in Birmingham
A first-time visit to Birmingham was a great success for Betty Goss, Social and Outings Organiser for the National Heath Society Retirement Fellowship based in Peterborough, and 42 of her members recently.
“The group had always wanted to go to Birmingham but never had before this trip,” explains Betty. “I booked the coach travel with a super company called Tourmaster Coaches based in Lincolnshire,” she continues. “Our driver dropped us off outside the Bull Ring shopping centre in Birmingham first of all, where we all enjoyed a few hours of shopping and tried out some of the restaurants.”
The group then hopped back on the coach for the short journey to the International Convention Centre Quayside, where Betty had pre-booked a two-hour cruise of the Worcester Birmingham Canal with Sherborne Wharf Heritage Narrowboats, the Birmingham-based river cruise operator. “Whilst we were cruising down the canal, we enjoyed a live commentary and drinks,” says Betty. “It made a really lovely, relaxing conclusion to the day.”
