Festive German trip a treat
Active GTO for Essex-based Shirley Tours, Shirley Ward, took a group of 44 people away to Germany for four festive days a few months ago. “We stayed at the Hotel Aker in Brodenbach, which overlooks the River Moselle, and the trip was booked through thecoachholiday.com in Cheltenham,” says Shirley. “We were due to travel by Eurotunnel but as there was a postal strike on, the payment did not arrive in time so we went via P&O Ferries instead. To compensate, thecoachholiday.com treated us to a continental breakfast in reserved seating onboard!”
The day after they arrived, the group enjoyed a spot of winetasting at the Richard Weyh estate in Winningen whilst the next day, they travelled on to their main Christmas market destination, Rudesheim. “The town was festooned with Christmas decorations and had lots of stalls with gifts and various concoctions to drink.” states Shirley. That night, meanwhile, members boarded the Windiga vessel outside their hotel for a riverboat disco. Shirley exclaims, “We had such a great night!”
Before returing home via Eurotunnel, the group visited St Flora, in De Moeren, Belgium, a restored French chateau once owned by the King and Queen of the Belgians in WWI. “Pre-booked coach parties are welcomed to have a free drink and visit the shop there,” says Shirley. “Thanks to thecoachholiday.com for booking such a great trip.”
