Heritage at the Hall

A first time visit to The Hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir near Llandrindod Wells in Wales was greatly enjoyed by 50 people from Herefordshire-based Heritage Country House Tours this May. GTO for the group, Hazel Smith, reports, “A couple of my members had been before with other groups and told me all about it.”

The group was split into two for guided tours of the19th century house and Hazel states, “The tours lasted about two hours and were fascinating. We were taken around the ground and first floors as well as the basement, which contained food that would have been available at the time.” She continues, “We were treated to lots of anecdotes and history regarding the house, and the collections there are wonderful, particularly the china.”

Members of the group also enjoyed a very good lunch at the venue. “This is useful to know as there are not many other eateries around,” says Hazel. “We were also able to pre-order the food before we arrived.”

There was also time to explore the rest of the 52 rooms of the house not visited as part of the tour and Hazel adds, “There is a lovely and very large walled garden at The Hall as well, which is immaculately kept. I would definitely recommend a visit to other groups.”
