London town and around

Karen Beren-Guiu, Events Organiser for the Friends of the Beck Theatre in Middlesex, has enjoyed many group excursions with Surrey-based Town and Around, a company specialising in guided days out for groups. Her most recent was to St Pauls Cathedral and the Tate Modern with 36 people. She explains, “When you book with Town & Around, you select the excursion that you like and then if you want to change any of the details, Lorraine there does her very best to oblige. The company always supplies a Blue Badge guide and arrange the payment of entrance fees for you and all I have to do is organise the coach for the day. It is a very nice change to arrive and have it all arranged!”

On the trip in question, Karen’s group began the day with a welcome cup of coffee at St Pauls and spent the rest of the morning exploring the attraction with the guide. “Her intricate account of the team of mastercraftsmen who assisted Sir Christopher Wren in building the masterpiece 300 years ago was interesting and we all learnt so much.”

After lunch at the group’s leisure, it was then time to visit the Tate Modern. “The Turbine Hall was very impressive,” remembers Karen. “Our guide located certain paintings to explore and explained what they were all about in some detail.”

She concludes, “Town and Around is very efficient, helpful and very willing to try and suit your needs as well as being very approachable with the slightest query.”
