A group of 10 from the London-based Barnes Community Association recently enjoyed their first experience of cruising on board the Saga Rose.

Rita Robinson, Group Tour Organiser for the club, organised the four-day mini cruise to allow those members of the group unfamiliar to cruising to experience a taste for themselves. “Saga organised a coach to take us from our front doors to meet the ship in Dover,” she explains. “Once on board, our cases were delivered to our cabins and we enjoyed delicious tea and cakes before setting sail for Zeebrugge.”

During the voyage, the group enjoyed stops at Blankenburge in Belgium, docked overnight in Le Havre and called at St Peterport on Guernsey, where most of the group took a ferry over to Sark.

As well as a welcome cocktail party and a special captains party for all the newcomers on board, Saga also arranged a birthday cake during dinner one night for a member of the group celebrating her 85th! “The service was exceptional and the food marvellous,” says Rita. “Lobster, guinea fowl, duck, fillet steak and mouth watering desserts were the norm every night. Saga is to be congratulated and I have already booked another mini-cruise for the August Bank Holiday.”
