Rose's epic Warner holiday

Cricket St Thomas Historic Hotel, the Warner Breaks property in Chard, Somerset was the setting for a recent five-day break for a group of dancers and friends from around Cwmcarn in South Wales. Rose Maddy, group travel organiser for the informal group says, “We always try to stay at a Warner property when we go away, the standard is just so good. It all started when I stayed at a Warner Breaks property myself and told our local working mens club about it. More and more people from the area wanted to come away, including those who had an interest in sequence dancing, those who enjoyed line dancing and even bowling. Many of us also went to school together. In the past, I’ve taken eight coachloads away to a Warner property!”

Two coachloads enjoyed the trip to Cricket St Thomas and Rose continues, “I book through the Warner Breaks groups department, which is wonderful, and the accommodation at Cricket St Thomas is excellent. You can also make use of the Wildlife Park which is at the site; my members decided whether they would like to visit whilst we were there and all they had to do was say they were part of my group and they got a group discount.”

During the group’s stay, Rose arranged several excursions to places such as Dorchester, to see the Terracotta Warriors and the Tutankhamun Exhibition, Exeter and Clarks Village near Glastonbury. “We also enjoyed dancing in the hotel’s ballroom whilst there as that is what most of the group are interested in,” explains Rose. “Warner properties are all inclusive and I always find that nothing is too much trouble – we are at the stage now where we visit almost one a month!”
